Reginald (Reggie) Alexander Perry, Sr.

Reginald (Reggie) Alexander Perry, Sr., was born on December 30, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida.  

Reggie graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1969, in Queens, New York. He attended Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. There he was a Pharmacy major. During the fall of 1971, he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Zeta Rho Chapter. His pledge line was named the ‘Dirty Dozen’.  Reggie transferred from Indiana State University to State University of New York, College of Old Westbury where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration & Accounting.  

After graduating from college, he began working for General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan as a Cost Accountant. In 1981, Reggie began working as an accountant for Johnson & Johnson in Solon, Ohio. In 1986, he transferred to Johnson & Johnson, Chicopee in Gainesville, Georgia where he worked in various supervisory roles and IT. Reggie was also a Purchasing & Quality Control Manager for the Polymer Group Incorporated in Gainesville, Georgia.  

Reggie had a love for computers and taught computer classes through Continuing Education at Gainesville State College, The University of North Georgia and Lanier Tech.  He later became co-owner of MY Associates, LLC, a mental health software business.

Reggie served on numerous boards and committees throughout Hall County, Georgia. 

On July 8, 1978, he married his college sweetheart and love of his life, Brenda Blakemore. Reggie is the father of three children, Makeba Garrison, Reginald Alexander Perry, Jr. and Robyn Estella Perry. 

Reggie was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Business Manager. He also enjoyed worshipping at 12 Stone Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia. 

Over the years Reggie has never met a stranger. He had strong personal qualities that attracted, influenced and inspired people. His kindness and willingness to help others will always be remembered by the lives he touched. He had deep, unconditional love for his family and dear friends. 

Mr. Perry peacefully transitioned on February 21, 2022. He is preceded in death by his mother Willie Pearl Cohen and father Willie Cohen. 

He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of 43 years Brenda Perry; daughter, Chaplain Makeba (David) Garrison; son, Mr. Reggie Perry, Jr. (Destiny); daughter, Ms. Robyn Perry; sister, Dr. Bernadette (Fred) Brown; grandchildren, Zavier Perry, Solomon and Nemiah Garrison, Regina Jade, Phoenix, and Phox Perry; and Grand dog Chanel. Mr. Perry also leaves behind a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and good friends. 

Special thanks to his care-giver Anthony Smith. Special thanks to his sister-in-law, Ms. Hazel Holmes, for her dedication to providing spiritual prayers and devotion.  Also, special thanks to the ALS Foundation and the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Palliative/Hospice care.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Memorial Park South Chapel with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Rev. Rodney Lackey, Sr. will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
