Matthew Edward Egerton passed away unexpectedly on February 19th, 2022, following a massive stroke.
Matt was an incredible son, brother, father, uncle and friend. He spent his life laughing.. a lot. He was silly and that was made obvious when, in death, his family had a hard time finding a “normal” photo of him. He would love that fact.
It’s that personality that all of us who loved him will carry with us forever.
A funny smile, a prank, a loud laugh, that’s what we’ll remember and what all of us should strive to have more of every day. Because, Matt was only 43. Too young. But none of us are promised even tomorrow. Shouldn’t we spend that time being silly? Matt is leaving us with that lesson.
Take nothing for granted. Don’t judge. Laugh.
Matt loved film and TV, especially super hero movies. He could talk for hours about them with thoughtful insights. He was a good writer, LOVED basketball, played the lottery, and though no one understood, he loved terrible cardboard frozen pizzas.
He wasn’t just a witty guy. Matt was also an incredible friend. His family and the people in his life were everything to him. He loved spending time with them, helped where he could, and loved deeply.
He will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to have known him… beyond what words can describe.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; his children: Delaney Owenby, Brevin Egerton, Tristin Stewart, and Mae Egerton; his mother, Kathy Egerton, and his siblings, Tracie Schwartz, Tammy Leal, Ryan Gaston, Jason Egerton, Ken Egerton, and Susan Kenawi; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Doug Egerton, his grandmother, Georgia Dickinson, and his brother P.J. Egerton.
