Mrs. Frances Louise Smallwood, age 86, of Murrayville, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022.
Mrs. Smallwood was born in Cumming on December 28, 1935, to the late Homer and Janie Pirkle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Frank Willis Smallwood and L.D. Smallwood; son James Edward Smallwood; sisters Eunice Workman, Emma Chamblee, Elizabeth Baker; brother James Pirkle; grandson Roger Donald Smallwood; great-grandchildren Damon Port, Asher Port, Brianna Smallwood, and daughter-in-law Ann Smallwood.
Mrs. Smallwood was a beloved mother and grandmother. Among her favorite things to do was garden and work on her flowers. Mrs. Smallwood was affectionately called "Granny" by her grandchildren. She would often show her love with a pan of fried chicken and gatherings in her home. Mrs. Smallwood will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Missing her most will be her daughters and sons-in-law Janice and Joe Stringer; Nancy and Jason Chambers, all of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Sandra Smallwood, Dahlonega; son Willis Smallwood, Ellijay; special friend Tony Peck; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2022, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Les Fuller, the Rev. Tim Hicks, and the Rev. Chris Ellis will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.
