Mr. Walid Albert Nannis, age 82, of Flowery Branch passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville, surrounded by his family.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2022 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Father Ignacio Morales will officiate. The family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mr. Nannis was born December 3, 1939 to the late Albert & Mary Nannis in Baghdad, Iraq. A 1966 graduate of Georgia Tech, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, and retired from Nannis & Associates, where he was a Structual Engineer. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic, where he sang in the Choir, a member of the South Guinness Rotary Club, member of the Knights of Columbus and a fellow with the American Society of Civil Engineers. He loved traveling to the beach.
Mr. Nannis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Nannis; sons & daughters-in-law, Mark & Leslie Nannis, Brian & Amy Nannis and Scott & Patricia Nannis; 12 grandchildren, Caroline, Abbigail, Mary, Maddie, Emory, Thomas, Margaret, Andrew, Veronica, Jackson, Amelia and Joseph; and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. UA Nannis; and sisters, Amira Lutzhoeft and Gene Burjony.
