Roy Samuel Channell

Mr. Roy Samuel Channell, 88, of Oakwood, formerly of Covington, TN, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Born on August 13, 1933 in Attala County, MS, he was the son of the late Clarence Vester Channell and the late Willie Louise Johnson Channell. He was retired from the trucking industry. Roy served 35 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as Master Sergeant. Roy was a member of Tipton Masonic Lodge #226 in Munford, TN, and a member of First Baptist Church of Oakwood.

Roy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gaylon Wallace Channell; daughter, Charlotte Gale Brown (Benton); granddaughter, Sabrina Dale McNeal (Jeremy); sisters, Virginia Napier of Waverly, TN, Rebecca “Becky” Delashmit (Paul) of Brighton, TN; brothers, Jimmy Wayne Channell (Diane) of Brighton, TN, Billy Gene Channell (Diane)  of Mason, TN and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, son, Roy Dale Channell; sisters, Mary Evelyn Hadley, Virgie Nell Baggett; brothers, Charles Earl Channell, Arnold Ray Channell; sisters in law , Betty Williams Channell, Doris Jobe Channell; brothers in law, Joe Napier, Ron Baggett, two nieces and one nephew.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or your favorite charity.
