Mr. John Farmer Hardy, age 100 of Forest Avenue, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at his home in Toccoa, Georgia.
The son of the late Claude E. and Ida Harbert Hardy, he was born September 1, 1921, in Stephens County’s Gumlog Community. He was a lifelong resident of Toccoa and was employed by R. G. Letourneau Company in 1942 as a welder. He served in the U.S. Navy during 1944 and 1945 while stationed in Trinidad and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as an Aviation Machinist Mate during World War II. After the war, he returned to Toccoa, resumed his position and retired from WABCO after 43 years. He was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by parents Claude E. and Ida Harbert Hardy, step-mother Mary Garner Price Hardy, wife Annabelle Berrong Hardy, his son Johnny F. Hardy, Jr., and three brothers, Burey, Jule and Dorsey Hardy.
Survivors include daughter, Mariesa Pavliscsak and son-in-law Andrew John Pavliscsak of Toccoa; grandson, John Thomas Crawford (Tammy Anderson Crawford) and great-grandson John Andrew Crawford (Chloe Miller, Fiancé) of Lula, Georgia; sisters Barbara Hardy Crooks (Jack) and Blondeanor Hardy Ivester.
Graveside services will be Sunday, February 20, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard. Reverend Paul Garrison and Reverend Jerrell Beatty will be officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Andrew Crawford, John Crawford, Linden Roberts, Gerald Shedd, Dennis Breedlove and Malcolm Sharp.
