Mrs. Laquita Tarpley Lunsford, 86, of Gainesville, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Cheyenne Ergle will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Born on August 11, 1935 in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Loy and Ruth Savage Tarpley. Mrs. Lunsford was retired from Gainesville Bowling Center where she was owner/operator along with her deceased husband, Bud Lunsford.
Bud and Laquita also established and operated Lanier Raceway for many years. When Laquita wasn’t helping Bud at either establishment, she also served as a commercial real estate agent. Mrs. Lunsford was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Lunsford; son, Brian Lunsford and siblings, Billie Tarpley, Virginia Tarpley Smith and Sandra Tarpley.
Mrs. Lunsford is survived by her daughter and son in law, Debbie Lunsford Love (Michael Love) of Gainesville; grandchildren, Joey Love, Alex Love (Julia), Jon Love (Amelia), Raya Love; great grandchildren, Brianna Love, Gabriel Woods, Tyler Love and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
