Ora Mae Flye

Ora Mae Flye was born December 5, 1951 in Gainesville, Florida to the late Bishop Richard Hines & the late Mother Victoria Hines. Ora was preceded in death by her husband Roy Flye, her 5 sisters and two brothers whom she loved dearly. Ora’s parents were true believers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which followed her in her adult years. She was affiliated with Zion Temple Holiness Church in Tampa, FL. & Bible Way Church of God in Wildwood, FL. 

Ora graduated in Troy, New York then relocated to Florida where she became a healthcare provider. Ora was a jack of many trades. She loved to sing, and many who knew her loved to hear her sing. Ora published her first book titled “Look Up Today”. She won the Poet of the Year Medallion by the Famous Poets Society in 2000, 2001, and 2002. She won the Poet of Merit Award by the International Society of Poets, Washington, DC, in addition to being presented an International Poet of Merit Award Trophy on August 25, 2002, by the International Society of Poet. Ora has written many more poems that has yet to be published. Publishing will be completed later by her daughter in memory of her. Ora also loved bowling which she was on a Bowling League winning trophies for many years.   

Ora leaves to cherish her memory to her daughter Katrina Thomas-Oats (Jerodney) who went against all odds in caring for her up until the end, 2 granddaughters Shanekia Young (Brandon), Aaliyah Oats, 2 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly Ja’Carieon Binns and Tyrone Williams. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. There are two groups of people she dearly loved and called family. One group was her Waffle House Family, and the other group is the staff who assisted in her caregiving in the home. SHE IS ALREADY GREATLY MISSED! 

The visitation will be held Saturday February 19th between the hours of 12-3pm Celebration of Life will follow at the hour of 3pm. Services will take place at Deliverance Life Christian Center. Professional Service Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
