Mr. Johnny Bill Abercrombie, age 85, of Suches, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. Being a lifelong resident, he was born in Suches on May 24, 1936, to the late Jennings Abercrombie and the late Vanzie Grizzle Abercrombie. He was a long time member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Mary Helen Garrett Abercrombie for 63 years. Many people in the Suches area will miss his mechanical capabilities, as he always worked on stuff for his neighbors. Also, many young men will miss hanging around Johnny's shop, for they learned a lifetime of knowledge from the time they were blessed to spend there.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Elbert Abercrombie, Hubert Abercrombie, and Edna Grace Gregory; and grandson Jeremy Head.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Helen Abercrombie of Suches; children Beth (Ray) Gordon of Donaldsonville, Lynn (Guy) Brown of Murrayville, Rebecca (Doug) Dover of Gainesville, Adrian White (Rick Hughes) of Cleveland and Blairsville, and Shannon (Stanley) Buell of Cumming; sister Betty Marie McIntyre; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and longtime friend Hobert Lunsford. Numerous friends and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Matt Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501, in memory of Johnny. Johnny's family will forever remember the Hospice of Northeast Georgia staff for the care and compassion they provided in his final days.
