Joseph William (Bill) Clements

Obituary Date: Monday, February 14, 2022
Joseph William (Bill) Clements, left his earthly home on Monday, February 14, 2022, following several months of declining health.
 
He was born in Akron, Ohio on December 22, 1926 to Sampson and Martha Clements. Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, Walter and wife Jean, Charles and wife Annabelle, sister, Martha Lillian, nephews, Charles and Rodney, daughter-in-law, Shannon Clements.
 
After graduating from High School, he attended Ohio State University as an advanced engineering candidate; then volunteering in 1945 to serve in the 509th bombardment group serving on Kwajalein Island in the Marshall Islands. They were known as the “Guinea pigs”, as they were guarding planes holding the atomic bomb. He then returned back to the states, serving as a military police until his discharge in 1948. Bill returned to Ohio and met his lifetime mate, Jacqueline Darby (who was entering her last year of high school). Now celebrating over 73 ½ together. After returning Bill returned to Akron University for his B.S. Business Degree and to Case Western reserve School for an M.B.A. He served as a factory Manager for General Tire and Rubber in Guatemala, C. A; Manager Cooper Tire and Rubber in Clarksdale, MS; Works Manager, Sawyer-Tower Products, Watertown, MA. He was then moved to Georgia in 1971, where we decided we would not be moved anymore and Bill started his own businesses. He started Bill-Jac & Associates, Clements Family Partnership and Best Canvas Products in Flowery Branch. He was a devout member of the First United Methodist Church. He loved music and singing, He sang in the Chancel choir and led singing in the Open Door SS class for over 25 years. He was one of the founders of the Believers Concert Band. Bill was always a willing volunteer; Meals on Wheels, Lifeline Hospital Auxiliary, and his church. He helped build a home after a tornado. He was there so often the little boy started calling him Grandpa.
 
The family would like to express their thanks for the services of the staff and nurses of Hospice of NEGA Medical Center and Lanier Park. Bill is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Clements, son, Terry and wife Nancy Carol; son, Ronald Clements, Linda Breese; daughter, Heidi and husband Kenneth; three grandchildren, Katherine and husband, Chris, Phillip Hall, Elisabeth Clements, many friends, nieces and nephews.
 
Bill has spent his life being loved by all his family and friends, loving them back and enjoying life! He wrote a quote he wanted to say “my Angel Jacque and I have been blessed over and over for more than 73 years. May God Bless You as he has blessed my family and I these many years”.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Entombment will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
