David was born on August 10, 1959. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1977. He attended Lanier Tech, where he met the love of his life, Tracy Rigby Caldwell. They married in 1981 and had 3 children, Jeremy, Stephanie, and Sarah. He was a man of many talents which included his attention to detail and expertise in electrical work, his love for guitar and music, pursuit of leisurely golf, and enjoyment of local sports teams. He was a life-long animal lover with a passion for training dogs and was also known for bringing a random stray home. He loved to laugh and his care and compassion for others were marked characteristics.
He completed the Industrial Electricity program at Lanier Tech and worked throughout the Gainesville/Hall County area. He worked with his brother Joe Caldwell and Caldwell Electric then started his own business, Electrical Maintenance Service in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Caldwell, his sister-in-law, Perin Stowers, and dearest friend Joe Sweetman. He is survived by his mother, Frances Caldwell, his wife of 40 years, Tracy Rigby Caldwell, son & daughter-in-law Jeremy & Meghan Caldwell, daughters and sons-in-laws, Stephanie & Denzyl D'Cruz, and Sarah & Cabe Harrison, grandchildren, Aubrey & Andrew Caldwell and Freelin & Eliza Harrison, brothers Marlin Mosher (Gloria), Garry Caldwell, Joe Caldwell (Deborah), and sisters Cheryl Payne (Buddy) and Karen Clark (Andy), and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at 4:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. Reception to follow.
