Mr. James Spencer Bentley, age 93 of Hilltop Lane, Toccoa passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Oaks at Scenic View, Baldwin, Georgia.
A son of the late Jim and Florine Carter Bentley, he was born October 14, 1928 in Transylvania County, North Carolina having lived in Toccoa most of his life. He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran with 25 years of service, having served during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jonnie Baker Bentley in 2018 and by two brothers, Don Bentley and John Bentley.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Scott Poore of Toccoa; sons and daughters-in-law, James Gary Bentley and Mary of Toccoa and John Gregory Bentley and Sabrina of Murphy, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jon and Katie Bentley, Chris and Katie Poore, Caitlin Poore and her fiancé Conner Young; four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Frances Bentley of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022, 11 o’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beaty officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Chris Poore, Conner Young, Levi Nicholson, Josh Baker and Cecil Nicholson.

Entombment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard.
