James Herman Smith

Rev. James Herman Smith, 91, of Dawsonville, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Pastor Steve Baker, Rev. Steve Chadwick, Sr., Rev. Andy Caldwell and Rev. Cecil Reeves will officiate. Interment will be in Chestatee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, February 18th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Born on April 12, 1930 in Forsyth County and raised in Dawson County, Rev. Smith was the son of the late Dessie Lee Tucker Smith. Rev. Smith was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.

Rev. Smith is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Debbie Martin and Tim Kanaday of Gainesville, Rebecca and Danny Adams of Gainesville, Kathyleen and Jason Hulsey of Gainesville; son, Michael H. Smith of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Sharon (Joshym) Holt, Stephen (Tammy) Martin, Amanda (Nathaniel) Maize, Paige (Spencer) Edwards, Blair (Timothy) Cantrell, Konner (Beth) Hulsey; 6 great-grandchildren several brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
