Melvin E. Anderson, age 77, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022.
Mr. Anderson was born on December 5, 1944 in White County, Georgia to the late Lester and Hazel Smith Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Hulsey; brother, Kenneth Anderson; brother-in-law, Delmar White; sisters-in-law, Jan Anderson, and Susan Anderson.
The oldest of seven siblings, Melvin learned the value of and an appreciation for hard work on his family’s farm. In 1963, he graduated from White County High School and married his lifelong soul mate Brenda London on June 3, 1965. After working at the Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute for approximately 9 years, he and Brenda started Brenda’s Home Fashions, Anderson Carpet and Furniture, Alto Hardware and built the Anderson Village Shopping Center. His entrepreneurial spirit and determination led to his admiration as a respected business leader with the utmost integrity. He loved his family, his tractor and bulldozer, and his time spent outdoors in a tree stand.”
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Brenda London Anderson; sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Kim Anderson, of Cornelia; Jason and Angie Anderson, of Alto; Andy and Patricia Anderson, of Alto; sisters and, Mardell White, of Lumpkin County; Teresa Johnson, of White County; brothers, Nekurvis Anderson, of Florida; Royce Anderson and Carol, of Lumpkin County; brother-in-law, Rondal Hulsey, of Hall County; sister-in-law, Margaret Anderson, of White County; grandchildren, Lauren and fiancé, Gary Leggett; Amberly, Cody and fiancé, Gabby Mastandrea; Joshua and wife, Whitney; Kelsey, Malie, Maredith, Gabe and Evie; and one great-grandchild, Kendrick.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the funeral home.
