Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Allen Newton Wix, age 78 of Jefferson, Georgia who went to be with the Lord, Monday, February 7, 2022. Mr. Wix was born in Dallas, Georgia a son of the late Herbert Lareing Wix, and the late Ola Grace Baggett Wix, was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country 1964-1970, former member of the American Legion Post 56, and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wix is preceded by sisters, Betty Baxter, Dorothy Rose, Lanette Fields and a brother Houston Wix, along with his former wife, Ann Wix. Mr. Wix was a lifelong resident of Paulding County until moving to Jackson County in 2004, where he resided until his death.
Survivors include his wife Iris Schisler Wix of Jefferson. Children, Billy and Diane Edwards of Braselton, Danny and Chris Edwards of Commerce, Susie and Rodney Walker of Jefferson, Tim and Joy Edwards of Homer, Debra Carrier of Rockmart, Kenny and Robin Locklear of Dallas, Terry and Linday Locklear of Garrett, Indiana, Jimmy Locklear of Pamona Beach, Florida. Sister, Loretta Kaplan of Florida, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grand-children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Evans Funeral Home. A celebration of Allen’s Life will be held at the graveside at the Yorkville Baptist Church Memorial Garden in Yorkville, Georgia at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 26, 2022, with Reverend Larisa Parker officiating.
