Clara Shirley Tanksley

Clara Shirley Tanksley, age 93, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022.

Mrs. Tanksley was born on January 17, 1929 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Causby Jackson Shirley and Ellie King Shirley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert Tanksley; sisters, Pearl Smith, Lillian Chastain, and Bertha Shirley; she was the last of her immediate family. Mrs. Tanksley was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. She had retired from Carwood Manufacturing with 40 years of loyal and dedicated service.

Survivors include her loving nephew, Ricky David Chastain, of Rome; and her loving niece, Helen Sue Edwards, of Dallas, GA. Mrs. Tanksley is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Raymond Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the BC Grant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
