Kathleen Ann Russo 1955 - 2022

Our loving angel was called home to heaven on February 3, 2022, after her second battle with breast cancer.

Kathy was an exceptionally loving and selfless person, always seeing the good in everything. To know her was a true gift from God. She had the most beautiful and sassy flare about her, that if you were fortunate enough to meet her, you would never forget her. Kathy was a wonderful wife, endearing mother and fantastic Cha-Cha (grandmother).

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Mario Russo Jr., children Evan Mario Russo, Alexa Kathleen Kangas, son-in-law Bradley James Kangas, grandson Jagger Mario Kangas and loving brother Mark John Balok.

Kathy grew up in Madison Heights, a suburb of Detroit. In 1997, the family moved to Johns Creek, GA where Evan and Alexa grew up. In 2016, Kathy and Mario moved into Cresswind at Lake Lanier, where she enjoyed her love for the many social gatherings, including pickle ball, boating on Lake Lanier and martinis and wine with the girls.

Kathy’s best moments were spent with her family, cooking, taking trips with her friends and completing a half marathon with her daughter. You could always find Kathy in the kitchen, on the dance floor or in her garden. She always had a smile on her face, a sassy attitude and a contagious laugh that will live on in our hearts forever.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, February 17th at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church 3740 Holtzclaw Road, Cumming, GA 30041. Followed by a luncheon for all of Kathy’s friends to celebrate her life at White Laurel Estate 6370 Wagner Way, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
