Douglas “Doug” Chamblee Reed

Mr. Douglas “Doug” Chamblee Reed, 79, of Oakwood, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Truelove and Mr. Dwight Reed will officiate. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on December 27, 1942 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Tom Loyd and Ruby Chamblee Reed. Mr. Reed was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway with 37 years of service. Mr. Reed was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church now Christ Place Church.

Doug loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. Especially his grandkids and eating his wife’s home cooking, he also loved visits to the mountains.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Reed is preceded in death by his brothers, LC Reed, Fondren (Bud) Reed, Charles Reed, Lee Reed and sister, Carolyn Winters.

Mr. Reed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Faye Reed of Oakwood; children, Randy Reed of Oakwood, Brian Reed of Braselton, Kathi Brock of Oakwood, Kristi Smith (Joey) of Lakemont; grandchildren, Ashley Cain, Trent Reed, Dusty Reed, Taylor Smith, Brittany Lord, Kari Reed, Lilli Cicala, Mia Cicala, Maddox Cicala and a number of other loving relatives.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.
