William Lamar Shook

William Lamar Shook, age 78 of Demorest, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2022.

Born in Clayton, Georgia on July 06, 1943, he was a son of the late Clifford McKinley & Myrtle Mae Smith Shook. Lamar retired from Scovill Manufacturing with 40 ½ years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he enjoyed squirrel hunting, deer hunting, and spent lots of days with his friend, Sherrill Fry gardening. Most of all, Lamar enjoyed precious time with his family. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Lamar was preceded in death by his brothers & sister-in-law, James & Katherine Shook; Albert Shook; sisters & brothers-in-law, Betty & Ed Roberts, Beulah Mae & William Shaw.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley Ferguson Shook; son & daughter-in-law, Danny & Michelle Shook; grandchildren, Kelsey & Dylan Charles, Madison Shook & Michael Johnson; great-grandson, Kershaw Glavin Charles all of Demorest, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Jerry & Sarah Shook of Alto, GA; sisters & brothers-in-law, Ida Lee & Wayne Gragg of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, GA; Patricia & David Chastain of Mt. Airy, GA; sister-in-law, Eva Nell Shook of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 02, 2022 at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Don Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Shook will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Wednesday.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
