Susie Grace Plunkett Haney

Mrs. Susie Grace Plunkett Haney was born October 24, 1925, on the farm on Plunkett Road in Buford that has been in her family now for more than a century. She was born there and made a home there until January 29, 2022 when she left this world for her heavenly home. She is predeceased by her parents, Charlie A. and Odessa Harris Plunkett; by her husband of 66 years, William C. Haney Sr.; by her brothers and sisters-in-law Hiram and Gladys Plunkett, and Joe and Marie Plunkett and by two brothers and a sister who died before she was born.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Linda Hembree of Buford, Dr. Haywood and Gail Day of Flowery Branch, and Denise Bommicino of Buford, and her sons and daughters-in-law Rev. Calvin and Geleta Haney of Hoschton and Rev. John and Gale Haney of Gray. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Hembree of Arlington, TX, Nicole Ussery of Sugar Hill, Karyn Clark of Arlington, TX, Laura Cruce of Buford, Libby Taylor (Eric) of Oakwood, Nathan Day (Shelly) of Flowery Branch, Brandon Haney (Courtney) of Watkinsville, Mandy Conner (Philip) of Jefferson, Claire Stovall of Atlanta, Beth Hickman (Corey) of Macon, Matthew Haney of NY, Tabitha Gorrell of Dahlonega and Steven Hays of Dacula; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Sara Haney of Buford, sisters-in-law Imogene Clark of Sugar Hill and Marie Berry of Buford; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Haney retired from Scientific Atlanta. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and especially enjoyed quilting. She made many beautiful quilts.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 1 at 2:00 in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, with Rev. Calvin Haney and Rev. John Haney officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Ivy Primitive Baptist Church where Mrs. Haney was a member. The family will receive friends Monday, January 31, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and immediately prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the church of your choice in memory of Mrs. Susie Haney.

The family requests masks be worn during the visitation and funeral.
