Gwynelle “Gwen” DeLay

Gwynelle “Gwen” DeLay age 83, of Gainesville entered heaven Sunday January 30, 2022 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville with her husband by her side.

Gwen was born in Commerce, Ga on Sept. 25, 1938 to the late Hoyt & Clara Brock Sears. She retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation where she worked in the lab. She was a very active member of Central Baptist Church, and the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary.

Left to cherish memories, her husband, James “Jim” DeLay; son, Leland & his wife, Christy; and granddaughter, Sarah. A host of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services honoring Gwen will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 2, 2022 at the Chapel of Ward’s Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Pirkle & Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at The Grove Church Cemetery in Maysville with Rev. Jeff Appling officiating. Gentlemen honored to serve as pallbearers, Kris York, Bob Marrujo, Gary Zerban, Brian Cantrell, Donald Welborn & Philip Samson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday February 1, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
