Jerry Lee Mote

Jerry Lee Mote, age 84 of the Habersham Mills Community, Demorest, Georgia took his heavenly flight home to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday, January 28, 2022.

A life-long resident of the Habersham Mills Community, he was born on September 21, 1937, the first child of the late Reverend Erford Lee & Lurlene Martin Mote. Jerry was a veteran, having served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked with Clarkesville Mill where he retired with over 40 years of dedicated service. Jerry also worked as a local radio personality first with WRWH – Cleveland, Georgia & then for many years with WCON – Cornelia, Georgia. He was a devoted husband, loving father, & dedicated Papa to not only his grandchildren & great-grandchildren, but to many others over the years. Jerry was a member of Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jean Townsend Mote; grandson, Clayton Lee Coleman; brothers, Lamar Mote, Maxi Mote, & Reverend Ronald Mote.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Mote, Cherryl Renaud-Mote, & Kimberly Kitchens; son, Eddy Mote; sister, Lois Mote Nations; sisters-in-law, Willette Mote & Vickie Mote; 7 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, as well as a host of friends. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church with Bishop Ronald Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Edward Hood officiating at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
