Wayne Kenneth Rogers, age 77, of Cleveland, passed away January 27, 2022.
Wayne was born on March 3, 1944, in Cleveland, Georgia where he has spent most of his life in White County. He is the son of Forrest and Mary Allison Rogers., who preceded him in death, as well as a baby brother, Roy Rogers. He is also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Dale Rogers (Jody). There will be a great reunion when they all see each other! There are grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends gone ahead, that he loves.
Wayne is survived by the love of his life, Sue Duke Rogers. They were married over 58 years. He is also survived by a son and best friend, John Wayne Rogers and daughter-in-law, Bibi. Surviving also are four grandchildren that are the apple of his eye: granddaughter, Delanie Rogers; grandsons, Dayden Rogers, Joseph Rogers, and Justus Rogers.
Surviving sisters and brothers-in-law are Latrell and J.P. Miles, Ruth and Pearson Pardue, Louise and Doyle Wiggins, Grace and Wayne Simmons, and Connie and Tom Lindquest, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Wayne was a man who always wanted to help others any way he could. He has really missed being able to work. Working has been a hobby for him since he was a boy. His grandpa Rogers taught him that work was a wonderful and honorable thing. He especially enjoyed gardening and watching a tiny seed grow and become food. Wayne has battled lung disease, Parkinson’s dementia, and cancer for many years. He has fought a long hard fight and kept his faith. He is free at last of all the burdens that have caused his suffering. He is finally at peace and at home with our Lord. He is a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and served as Deacon until he became disabled.
Instead of flowers, he would want donations to be made to Center Grove Baptist Church – P.O. Box 703, Cleveland, GA 30528.
A special thank you to Homestead Hospice. What a blessing you have all been. Janis, thank you for being with us all at the end. We will never forget what a “special angel” you are! We also want to thank all the employees at Laurel Lodge. We cannot imagine doing all the things you did for Wayne without your help. Another blessing for Wayne has been his special friend, Ricky Hicks, who has been faithful to visit him regularly for years. He has volunteered to help us with anything we needed from plumbing to lawn mower repair. Thank you! We sincerely want to thank everyone who prayed for us. Most of all we want to praise and thank our Lord for his love and mercy, and for holding us up and giving us the strength to keep going during a long weary struggle.
