Gary Eugene Reed

Mr. Gary Eugene Reed, age 75 of Oakwood, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 24, 2022 at Memorial Park South Chapel with interment following at Oakwood City Cemetery. Rev. Scott Wilson and Rev. Randall Reed will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Reed was born April 4, 1946 to the late Monia & Kate Reed in Gainesville, Georgia. He was a 1963 graduate of South Hall High School and later graduated from Gainesville College. He attended the University of Georgia. He was drafted into the US Army and stationed at the Pentagon. Mr. Reed worked as a Technical Inspector for Ciba Vision and owned and operated Shadetree Produce for the last 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakwood and a member of the Lake Lanier Jaycees.

He is survived by his wife of 52 and a half years, Elaine Alexander Reed; son & Daughter-in-law, Dr. Sam & Kristy Reed of Jefferson, Chris & Angela Reed of Lawrenceville, and Tim & Lauren Reed of Roswell; sister, Kathy Hembree of Oakwood; grandchildren, Bailey Reed, Taylor (Hayden) Adams, Zachary Reed, Amelia Reed, Oliver Reed, Penelope Reed, and Violet Reed; nephew, Matt (Heather) Hembree; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Oakwood.
