Mother Elgie Lipscomb Burce was born June 11, 1936 to the late William and Mary Lipscomb Sr., in Gillsville, Georgia and peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving Husband Thomas Burce, Jr., siblings; Arlene Birdette, Annette Studivant, Mamie Studivant, Elseree Lipscomb and Ruben Lipscomb and her in-laws; Billy Mattox, John Burce, Wydene Burce, Ed Prather, James Birdette, Ruth Winters and Rose Teasley. She attended Beulah Rucker Industrial School and later attended Bible college in California. Elgie accepted Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church of Gillsville, GA. During her membership she enjoyed serving in several ministries. Elgie sang with the Gospel Choir, was a member of the Trustee Board, and Hospitality Committee until her health no longer allowed her too. In 1958, she married the love of her life Thomas Burce Jr. and from this union six beautiful children were born. Being married to a Husband that served in the United States Navy, she was able to do what she loved. As a devoted wife, she was able to live and travel to California and Puerto Rico until they came back home, settled with their family and enjoyed 33 amazing years as Husband and Wife until Thomas passed in August of 1992. With all the love and compassion Elgie had to share she was a natural caregiver. She cared for her parents and her brother Ruben until their passing with the assistance of her beloved sisters Mamie and Annette.
Elgie was a devoted, loving and caring mother and to her children and grandchildren, whom all called her Mother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, getting them ready and dressed, watching them play sports and just cuddling and watching TV. She had a way of letting them know that their presence was all she needed. She also loved shopping and had such great taste. She lived in Macy's, Belk, etc.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Juanese (Charles) Demory of Gainesville, Ga, Mary Lynn Burce of Madison, AL, Emmanuel Burce of Gillsville, Ga, Adrienne Burce of Gainesville, Ga, Anuel (Jessica) Burce of Lula, Ga, Angela Burce of Gillsville, GA and her adopted daughter: Annie (Robert) Brawner; her grandchildren; Quinshayla Burce, Kendra Buffington, Terri Hollis, Ashley Burce, Amber Burce, Thomas L. Burce, Eboni (Tedarrius) Teasley, Quanese (Jay) Worlds, Tamara Burce, Alexis Burce, Amari Burce, Micah Morrow, Jaden Morrow and Maliyah Morrow, great-grandchildren; Ladarious, Malik, Sincir, Preston, Malachi, Tidas, Dennis, Tayden, London, Lai’la, Brionna, Carter, Corbin, Arianna, Addisyn, Avah and Armani, siblings; Dorothy (Pete) Weaver, Ludessia Mattox, William (Shirley) Lipscomb, Wallace (Janice) Lipscomb and Viola Lipscomb, brother In law; Edward Studivant, sister in law; Mary Prather, god daughter; Cathy Estell and a host of relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation Wednesday, January 19th, 2022 between the hours of 12:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Wimberly Funeral Home. Mother Burce's Celebration of Life Thursday, January 20th, 2022 at the hour of 1:00 PM at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends between the hours of 6-8p.m.
