Hoyt Murray Garrett

Obituary Date: Thursday, January 13, 2022

Mr. Hoyt Murray Garrett, age 91, of Flowery Branch passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Rev. Tony Elrod will officiate.  The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Garrett was born April 28, 1930 to the late Albert Calvin Garrett & Essie Rentie Crow Garrett in Gainesville. He retired in 1980 from General Motors in Doraville, where he worked as a Painter. He volunteered for years at Choices Pregnancy Care Center. He painted and repaired. Anything that needed doing, he was there. Murray was a great father who loved working in his yard and most of all, loved helping anyone who needed help. He was a frugal man and lived his life quietly, without drama. He loved all of his grandchildren.

Mr. Garrett is survived by the mother of their children, Elizabeth Baird of Flowery Branch; his son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Debbie Garrett of Gainesville; daughter, Donna Burch of Flowery Branch; daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne & Mike Morris of Oakwood and Rebecca & Jerry Taylor of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Scotty Matthew Gable of Flowery Branch, Patrick Michael Gable of Chicopee, Tiffany Beth Sullivan of Hoschton, Jeremy Nick Taylor of Auburn, Ella Louise Bellini of Gainesville, Natalie Rose Woodruff of Dawsonville, Amanda Dawn Hagin of Gainesville, and Ashlee Elizabeth Randolph of Jefferson; brother, Maurice Garrett; and great-grandchildren, Amelia Taylor, Eva Randolph, Elijah Randolph, Isla Rose Wilson, Roman Hagin, Alexiah Fischhaber, and Kennedy Fischhaber.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur, Amos, Howard, & Billy Garrett; and sisters, Hattie Grace Clark and Laura Mae Wruk.
