Clark Monroe Hill of Gillsville, Georgia, passed away January 9, 2022, at the age of 84.
Funeral will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Lebanon United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm at the church prior to the service
Clark was born April 21, 1937 in Langdale Alabama (now part of Valley Alabama). He attended the University of Alabama on a football scholarship but problems at the University caused him to transfer to Auburn University where he graduated in 1960. He became the Head Football coach at North Gwinnett that same year, starting the football program at North Gwinnett. He received his Masters Degree from the University of Georgia in 1972. He took over the Driver's Education program at North in 1970 and while working on his Masters Degree wrote a book on "Scheduling Driver's Ed in the High School Curriculum" which was widely used in high schools offering driver's education. His time in driver's ed. was taking so much of his time he resigned his football duties and went to work for the Superintendent of Gwinnett County Schools in Lawrenceville in 1974 where he could continue his Driver's Ed work and also be a trouble shooter for the Superintendent and worked with the school buses of a fast growing county.
Clark entered the Insurance business in 1976 and received another Masters Degree from LSU in Behavioral Psychology, dealing with the public, in 1981 and continued in insurance until he sold his company, Arbor Insurance, in August of 2000
He is preceded in death by his wonderful wife and friend of 35 years Beverly Thompson Hill. His mother and father, Bernice Hamil Hill and Roy L. Hill, Sr.
He is survived by his children. Brynn Hill Gooch (Randall), Carrie Hill Young (David), Nicholas Hill (Katie); 11 grandchildren and number of other family and friends also survive.
