Mr. Gene Bollinger, age 95 of Toccoa passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.
Son of the late Klutz Hunt Bollinger and Juanita Waldrop Bollinger Cissna, he was born September 20, 1926 in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Gastonia High School and later attended Truett McConnell College on the GI bill. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and later served in the United States Coast Guard. He married his wife, Stella Irene Hawkins Bollinger in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 4, 1950. He lived a greater part of his life in Toccoa where he was affiliated with Radio Station WLET for many years. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he taught an Adult Bible Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Stella Irene Hawkins Bollinger in 2018 and by two sons, Clayton Bollinger and David “Woody” Bollinger.
Survivors include his son, Barry Bollinger of Pennsylvania; two daughters-in-law, Yvonne Bollinger and Cindy Bollinger both of Toccoa; grandchildren and their spouses, Barry A. Bollinger, Brittany and L.B. Mooney, Kimberly and Caleb Holland and Cody and Kelli Bollinger; great-grandchild, Aiden Franklin Bollinger.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, 11 o’clock a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with The Reverend Roddy Turner officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time for the service. The family has requested that masks be worn during the visitation and service.
