Mrs. Frances Wynelle Ransom, age 90, of New Holland, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Levi Nix officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m., and Friday, December 31, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Due to the rise in COVID the family has asked that anyone who feels uncomfortable please wear a mask and follow all social distancing guidelines.
Born July 15, 1931, in Gainesville, GA, Mrs. Ransom was the daughter of the late William Corbett Cooper and Dolya Inez Cantrell Cooper. Mrs. Ransom was a Homemaker and a wonderful cook. She was First Lady of Temple Baptist Church for 42 years where she faithfully served by the side of her late husband, Dr. James Ransom. She also served with her husband at Bethany Baptist Church, Fairview Baptist Church and Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Though she was never one to desire the spotlight, she worked tirelessly in the background supporting her husband’s ministry, encouraging and mentoring other pastors’ wives, and helping raise five God fearing children all of whom are involved in the ministry themselves. She was the epitome of Proverbs 31.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ransom is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Ransom, a granddaughter Christian Faith Guthrie, a son-in-law Jack Marcus Guthrie, one sister, Mozelle Glover and two brothers, James Cooper and William H. (Buck) Cooper and a number of in-laws.
Mrs. Ransom is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Ransom Knight (Rev. Johnny); Elaine Ransom Guthrie; Teresa Ransom Merck (Rev. Steve); sons and daughters-in-law, Terry Ransom (Bobbie), Rev. Philip Ransom (Karen); 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters-in law Wilda Cooper and Becky Roberts; special friends, Joan Black and Mickie Massey and neighbor Gwen Johnson and a number of nieces and nephews.
