Wayne Douglas Cox

Wayne Douglas Cox, age 71, of Dawsonville, GA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 23, 2021. Douglas was a member at Coal Mountain Baptist Church in Cumming, GA, where he served as a deacon and devoted servant. He also served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Douglas was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He passionately loved his grandchildren and adored every second that he served as their Pa. He will dearly be missed. Douglas is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Mundy Cox; father and mother, Wayne and Nelle Cox; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Waldon and Sue Mundy; brother, Joe Lane Cox; brother-in-law, Jake Mullinax, and brother-in-law and sister, Herbert and Sara Roper.

Douglas’ love and kindness lives on through his children Jennifer and Chad McElwaney, Natalie Rickett Carpenter, and Benjamin and Kelli Cox; brothers and sisters: Hugh and Joyce Smith, Lamar and Judy Roper, Greg and Kaye Cox, Deanna Mullinax, Ralph and Fran Gravitt, Andrew and Anita Bearden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law:  Barry and Sheiron Mundy, Paul and Doris Mundy, Judy Cox; grandchildren: Justin Cox, Hailey Rickett, Hannah Rickett, Jordan Cox, Jacson Rickett, and Allie Cox; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Douglas will be held Wednesday, December 29th at 2:00 p.m.at Coal Mountain Baptist Church in Cumming, GA, with Rev. Gary Martin, Rev. Danny Bennett, and Rev. Larry Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow at Coal Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday December 28 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
