Mr. Joseph "Stanley" Caldwell, age 78, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
Stanley was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on December 24, 1942, to the late Poole and Hazel Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jason Caldwell. Stanley was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over forty years. He served honorably in the United States Army. To know Stanley was to love him, rarely did he ever meet a stranger. Telling stories, hunting, fishing, and spending days at the camp were some of his favorite things to do. However, Stanley's most cherished times were spent reading his Bible and embracing the promises of God. He was a true "nugget" and a salt of the earth man that will be deeply missed.
Missing him most will be his beloved wife Mildred Davis Caldwell; son and daughter-in-law Brett and Kim Caldwell, all of Dahlonega; brothers Rev. Lyman and Sandra Caldwell, and Lyndal and Mimi Caldwell; sister-in-law Bonnie Cantrell, all of Dahlonega; grandchildren Griffin Caldwell, Landon Caldwell, and Henley Caldwell; nephews Jody Caldwell (Emily), Joshua Cade Caldwell, and Jamie Rider; niece Robin Davis; and his "best friend" Rowdy.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Concord Baptist Church. The Rev. Tony Allison, the Rev. Phillip Robinson, the Rev. Steve Barrett, and the Rev. Roger Dunagan will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional or donations can be made to Concord Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in Stanley's memory, 717 Rider Mill Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
