Marie Lucille Cobb Adams went to her heavenly home on December 18, 2021 after a long, blessed, and wonderful life.
Born on May 7, 1930 in Barberton, OH, her childhood days were spent there till the family returned to her grandparents family farm in the North GA mountains of Blairsville, GA. At age 17 in 1947 her parents moved to Helen, GA to open and
manage the Helen Cafe on Main St. There she met the love of her life, John Henry Adams, a Helen native, just out of the U.S. Army. A quick romance began, followed by matrimony on February 8, 1948. Family and towns people teased and claimed it would not last. They knew it would and it did, for 45 happy years together. They made their home in Helen on Spring St while raising two loving daughters.
As a family, over time, they each became members of Chattahoochee Methodist Church, Robertstown-Helen Ga. She was the last member of her generation in the Adams family and the only daughter-in-law. She enjoyed a long, pleasurable career in the retail field. Initially working for employers who owned various businesses in Helen. A real "people person", self taught and truly knew how to interact with the public. Her light-hearted and cheery personality not only helped to increase sales, but made lasting friendships with many customers. She was fondly known in the community as "Miss Marie".
In the 1980's in Cleveland she worked at the Big G Discount store. In 1993, after her husband's passing, she joined the Griffin Drug Company team on the Cleveland Square. She enjoyed 22 more great years until 2015. By then, she was 85 years young and quite an inspiration. She has been doubly blessed with a long,
wonderful life, including two precious grandchildren and two great-grandchildren she dearly loved. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John Henry Adams; parents, Ivan & Louetta Smith Cobb; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Toby Laster; brother, Roger Cobb all of Blairsville, Ga, Jerry Mong, Medina, OH; and all sister and brother-in laws of the Adams family.
