Albert Joseph Pirkle, Age 80 of Cumming passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 18, 2021. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Albert, affectionally known as Grand-dad, G-Dad, Albert and Daddy was a kind, caring, loving and ‘mischievous’ one of a kind. He loved deep-sea fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren and going to the VFW and Rooster’s Café.
Albert was a Veteran of the US Navy. He served our country from March 6, 1960 to March 3, 1964 aboard the USS Thetis Bay. While serving in the US Navy he experienced traveling abroad. The USS Thetis Bay carried the helicopter for President John F. Kennedy. He loved to sit and tell us stories about his years in the Navy and those will forever be engraved in our hearts as everlasting memories. He retired from Georgia Pacific in 2001.
Since the passing of Albert’s sweet Barbara Ann, he has longed to be in a better place. Life was never the same for him and he knew that joy was awaiting him. Though our hearts are broken at his sudden passing, it gives us peace knowing that his longing for HOME has been fulfilled and a great reunion has taken place.
He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Pirkle, Parents, Elmer and Estelle Pirkle, mother and father-in-law, Earnest and Pluma Pruitt; Nancy Pirkle, sister; and Carroll and Milton Pirkle, brothers.
Albert is survived by his son, Joey (Michelle) Pirkle of Cumming; daughter, Tonya (Tim) Monroe of Cumming, grandchildren: Kade (Victoria) Kelley, Lydia and Caroline Pirkle, soon to be great granddaughter, Braelyn Barclay; siblings, Sara (Aubrey) Vaughan of Freehome, Ga, Joyce (Jerry) Wilkie of Ball Ground, Ga; brother and sisters-in-law, Cora (John Hugh) Flourney, Willie Mae Keys, Shirley (John) Stewart, Mary (Phil) McWhorter, Earnest, Jr. (Athene) Pruitt, Danny (Debbie) Pruitt and Gail Thompson all of Cumming, Ga.
