James Olen Castleberry, age 81, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 17th, 2021. Olen was born and raised in the Chestatee community by Guy and Ada Castleberry and continued to live with his wife and family in the community for the remainder of his years; he attended Salem Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army and retired from General Motors in the early 1990’s. He loved to raise cattle and continued to do so up until his death; visiting the Sale Barn on Tuesdays on Jot’Em Down Road for most of his retired years.
He is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Lynn Strickland, Lori and Shad Faulkner, Leigh and Jason Clark; 7 grandchildren, Aaron Strickland, Braxton, Mary Kate, and Hudson Faulkner, Brody, Bryson, and Bennett Clark; 2 great-grandchildren, Gracelynn and James Strickland; sister Hilda Bennett; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Castleberry; brothers, Carol Castleberry and Wayne “Bunk” Castleberry; sisters Madelyn Whitmire and Marie Musser.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 20 at 4:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Danny Orr and Rev. Shad Faulkner officiating.
