Charles "Chuck" Walter Hendrickson, beloved husband and father, died on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his home in Gainesville, Georgia at the age of 90.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Hendrickson, his four children Marsha Hill (Cliff), Dale Hendrickson, Wesley French (Michael), and Robert Hendrickson (Preston), five grandchildren, Amanda Cook (Travis), Kelsey Schraeder (Ryan), Collins Pruitt, Hastings Hendrickson, and Baker Hendrickson, and one great-grand child, Parker Schraeder. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sarah Markette.
Chuck was born in Gainesville, Georgia on May 29, 1931, and raised in Demorest, Georgia. Upon graduating high school, he attended Piedmont College. He then enlisted in the air force, serving his country in the Korean War. He was deployed to an air force base in South Korea. As the war ended, Chuck returned home to Demorest, Georgia and shortly thereafter moved to Gainesville, Georgia to start his career in the motor finance industry later owning Gainesville Motor Finance Company. In 1979, Chuck became a franchisee with Curtis Mathes Home Electronics and owned that company with multiple locations for 37 years, winning numerous national awards as Franchisee of the Year. Chuck retired in 2013 to spend more time with his family and loving wife Ann.
Chuck was instrumental in bringing American Legion Baseball to Gainesville and served as manager of Post 7 American Legion alongside good friend and coach Walter Byrd and later coach Don Brewer for many years. Additionally, he was part of the first post 7 team to make it to the world series.
Chuck reveled in spending time with his family on the lake and trips to Africa. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, excellent storytelling, and winning smile.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 20, 2021, at 1:00 PM with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 PM at Little & Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
