Carol Barker Roper passed away peacefully on December 14, 2021. She was born July 4, 1938 daughter of the late James Roscoe and Ruth Cox Barker.
Mrs. Roper attended Dawson County High School and Perry Business School in Gainesville. Upon graduation, she was employed by Southeastern Highway Contracting Company. Subsequently, she assisted her husband in business with Hall Tire and Supply Company and Rocket Truck Lines. In 1973, she became a partner in Fashion Villa and later sole owner of Carol’s Closet women’s apparel for thirty years.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd T. “Buster” Roper; brothers Clarence, Kimsey, Floyd, James and John Barker; sisters, Louvenia Stanford, Ethel Pugh and Annie Ruth Elliott.
Survivors include sister Maxine Barker Phillips, sister-in-law Patty C. Barker and a host of nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held with internment at Memorial Park Cemetery Gainesville. The Reverend Mike Taylor will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or a favorite charity.
