Colene Ruby Martin, 89 of Gainesville passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021.
Born in Forsyth County, Miss Martin had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late William Edward and Etta Lucindy Corn Martin. Miss Martin was a graduate of Brenau College. She taught piano lessons for many years, having taught at Martin Piano Company and Lanier Elementary School. Miss Martin also served as the church pianist at Central Baptist Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Ga. She also served as the pianist for the 101 Bible Class at Central Baptist and was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Adult I Sunday School class.
Miss Martin is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law; Ellis (Nancy) Martin, Gainesville; Frank (Stacy) Martin, Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn (Robert) West, Gainesville, Mary Lou Nix, Clermont, Martha (James) Tanner, Gainesville, sister-in-law, Winnie Martin, Marietta. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman (Mary Grace) Martin, Emmett Martin, Kermett (Ann) Martin, sister and brother-in-law, Regina (L.C.) McNeal, and brother-in-law, Benny Nix.
Funeral services will be held Sunday December 12, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Boone Strickland will officiate. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, Ga. with Rev. Robert West officiating. Miss Martin's remains can be viewed Saturday December 11, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The formal visitation with the family will be Sunday December 12 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
