Mrs. Louell Woodring Roper, 88, of Gainesville, went home to Jesus and other loved ones on November 27, 2021. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Ray; her mother, father, sisters, brothers and many other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her son, Brad Roper and wife Donna; son, Warren Roper and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Megan, Justin (Kaci), Ansley, Maggie (Taylor); brothers, Vaughn Woodring, Evan Woodring (Grace); sister in law, Eloise Woodring and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Mrs. Roper was born on January 18, 1933, in Blairsville, GA. She was an active member of Pleasant Hill and Woodlawn Baptist Church’s serving for many years in the Nursery and WMU. She was always a shining example of Christ her Savior, willing to share her faith in both word and work. She was a teacher at heart having taught at Rail Kindergarten and the Hall County School System before retiring as a principal of Myers Elementary School. She will be most remembered for creating a loving home and always being available to her family and friends to listen, pray, and celebrate their lives. She was a great wife, mother and served as caregiver for several family members as well as her mother who lived to 102 and Ray as he dealt with Parkinson’s disease for 15 years. She loved to travel, read, garden and sew and she actively kept in touch with her family and friends.
A service to honor her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Stacy Phillips and Chaplain Ron Guess will officiate. The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
