Mr. Grady Jasper Staton, age 74, of Lula, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
Grady was born August 6, 1947 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Garnett Staton and Dora (Jackson) Staton.
He served honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam. He and his wife were members of Gethesmane Baptist Church in Cornelia where he served as a deacon. At one time he led the choir and later singing in choir and playing the bass. He had a love for gospel music. His entire life was enjoyed and surrounded with leading choirs at various churches and singing in a few gospel groups.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Cathy (Morris) Staton. They were married May 22, 1976. He is also survived by niece and nephew, Celita (Pete) Allen of Port St. Joe, FL; Chip Allen; brother-in-law, Branson (Shirley) Morris, Gillsville, GA; a host of other nieces and nephew also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Melvinia “Liz” Cole (Dan); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rev. W. S. Morris and Martha; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Travis and Irene Morris.
