Linda Dyer Lawson

Obituary Date: Saturday, November 20, 2021

Mrs. Linda Dyer Lawson, age 70, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 20, 2021. She was born on February 11, 1951, to the late Arnold and Cona Grizzle Dyer.

Linda began her love for music at a young age. As a girl in Marietta, Georgia she started taking piano lessons. When she moved to Dahlonega as a 10th grade student she continued to play the piano. Linda played at Cavender's Creek Baptist Church and later moved to Macedonia Baptist Church where she raised her three girls and taught them to sing. She also learned to play the organ and played at church as well as for the Eastern Star, an organization that was near and dear to her heart. She loved them very much. Linda loved sewing and always made sure her kids had every prom dress, wedding dress, Old Fashion Day dress, and every costume they ever needed. On family Saturday nights you would find Linda and her family at her parent’s home playing the piano and singing. She loved her family so much and they loved her just as much. They all loved spending time together, going on long car rides, and playing family card games. As a single mother for many years, she raised her three girls while working to get her college degree in social work. After five long years, Linda graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Social Service.  When she graduated, she devoted her life to the Department of Family and Children’s Service as a Senior Agent and Supervisor in the Ellijay and Dahlonega offices. Linda was loved by so many, and she will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Gary Lawson and sister Sharon Anita Martin.

Linda is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Michael) Brown of Dahlonega, Michelle (Ken) Harkins of Clermont, and Dana Gilleland of Lusk, Wyoming; step-daughter Christine (Aaron) Fisher of Winder; brother Larry Dyer of Murphy, North Carolina; grandchildren Kaitlin (Cody) Bookmiller, Emma Grace Harkins, Curtis Brown, and Johnathan Brown; step-grandchildren Lorryn Fisher, Justin Fisher, and Edyn Fisher; nieces Jessica Dorsey, Courtney Ball, Sarah Martin, and Allison Martin; and special friend Louise Fields.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Savage and Rev. Phil Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Casey Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 22, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
