Marcus Johnny Cooper

Mr. Marcus Johnny Cooper, age 74 of Clermont, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Scott Waters will officiate.   The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 4 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Cooper was born November 2, 1947 in Gillsville, Georgia to the late Marcus Branson Cooper and Catherine Brewer Cooper.  He graduated high school and had 3 years of college, later serving in law enforcement in Gainesville.  Marcus was retired from the HVAC business and served in the U. S. Army.  He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stanley Cooper.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joann Harris Cooper of Clermont, his sons & daughters-in-law, Dewayne & Heather Cooper of Clermont and Kerry & Angela Cooper of Gainesville, his grandchildren, Kennedy Cooper and Kameron Cooper, his sisters & brothers-in-law, Betty & Jerry Gowder of Gainesville and Wanda & Larry Adams of Toccoa, his brother, Tony Cooper of Macon, Georgia.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
