Carol Ann Bell, age 79, of Gainesville, GA, died Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 6439 Spout Springs Rd. Flowery Branch, GA 30542, with burial to follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Father Adam Blatt will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Carol was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1942, to John and Katherine Zinkus in Morgantown, WV. Her mother Katherine’s birthday was also on St. Patrick’s Day.
Carol graduated from Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, WV. She then attended and graduated from West Virginia University, where she studied education in preparation for a career in teaching. Ultimately she spent 36 years as a public school teacher in Maryland.
Carol is survived by her husband, Samuel J. Bell, who she married in 1990, and her daughter, Michelle Catherine Ionta and her husband Chris Ionta, of Cumming, GA. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Allen, Rachel Allen, Katherine Allen, and Lauren Spessard.
In 2017, she and her husband Sam moved from Maryland to Georgia to be close to her grandchildren and to enjoy retirement near Lake Lanier. She enjoyed traveling, decorating, kayaking and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. Carol and Sam attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Gainesville.
