Fred Junior Barnes

 Mr. Fred Junior Barnes, age 89 of Gainesville, passed away on Friday morning, November 12, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Lamar Purcell and Reverend Mark Stroud will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Barnes was born July 23, 1932 in Cleveland, Georgia to the late Fred Barnes and Fannie Hill Barnes.  He was retired from Chicopee Mill and was a deacon at Faith Baptist Church.  Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Johnny Barnes, Margaret Lancaster, Billy Barnes, Lounelle Crowe, Tom Barnes, Betty Sue Thomas, Jane Forrester, Barbara Ann Buice, Benjamin Barnes and Ruby Jean Parker.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife of 71 years, Inez Collins Barnes of Gainesville, his children, Brenda & Keith Purser of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Linda & Mike Savage of Baldwin, Diane & Grady Davis of Gainesville and Ricky & Lindy Barnes of Homer, his grandchildren, Anna Brooke, Michael, Kayla, Josh, Brett, Brandy and Dana, his great-grandchildren, Taylor, Lucas, Lyndee, Deanna, Jake, Barrett, Blakely, Quinn, Allie May, Kaely and Chase.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
