Mrs. Dorthie Jean Smith McCurry, age 80 of North Red Rock Road, Toccoa passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at her residence.
A daughter of the late Rance and Ethel Holbrooks Smith, she was born August 12, 1941 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She was employed with Penline Garment for a number of years and later with Wal-Mart as a Department Manager. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Douglas McCurry and by six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Reba McCurry and Regina McCurry both of Toccoa; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ruth Hall of Toccoa and Lucille Harmon of South Carolina; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 7, 2021, 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Pastor David Crisp officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Cody Standridge, Chris McCurry, Nate Standridge, Jaylan Standridge, Corbin Cark, Corey McDonald and Jake McCurry.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from noon until the service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Old Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Dorthie Jean Smith McCurry.
