Selma Godbee Shannon

Selma Godbee Shannon, age 97, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on October 24, 2021.

Mrs. Shannon was born on May 31, 1924 in Eatonton, Georgia to the late James L. and Jania Gay Godbee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Otha Mayze Shannon. Mrs. Shannon was a member of the Cornelia United Methodist Church and was a Volunteer at Habersham Medical Center.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy M. Shannon and Claudia, of Marietta; Anthony L. Shannon and Paula, of Gainesville; grandchildren, Christopher Shannon, Sean Shannon; and a great-grandchild, Cora Shannon.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Yonah Memorial Gardens of Demorest, Georgia with Pastor Ben Wilcox officiating. All family and friends should arrive to the cemetery at 11:15 a.m.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the home of Tony Shannon, 9215 Martin Terrace, Gainesville, Georgia 30506.
