James Tyson Gittens

James Tyson Gittens, 77, of Gainesville, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville, GA after an extended illness.  Mr. Gittens was born in Hoschton, GA to the late Tracy and Lola Gittens.  Tyson was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, Cumming, GA, and retired from the USDA as an Inspector of 38 years and 4 months.  Tyson served in the United States Army during Vietnam for 2 years as a radio operator. 

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Vernell Phillips and Jeanette Hosch; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Bennett Gittens; sons, Chad and Misty Gittens, Todd Gittens and Amanda House; grandchildren, Sophie Gittens, Kali Murphy, Riley Murphy; sister, Sybil Phillips; and numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Donnie Nix and Danny Bennett officiating.  Interment will follow at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, Cumming, GA.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
