Dorothy "Dot" McNeal

Dorothy (Dot) McNeal, 91, of Gainesville, GA peacefully passed away at home on October 26, 2021.  She was born September 19, 1930 in Dawsonville, GA to Boyd and Dessie Payne, who preceded her in death.  Her husband of 55 years, Bill McNeal also preceded her in death in 2004. 

She was of the Baptist faith and, being homebound the past few years, enjoyed watching numerous services on television. 

Dot attended nursing school at North Georgia College, earning an LPN degree, and enjoyed working in geriatrics.  She was also a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, and was active in her community. 

Dot is survived by her son and daughter-in- law, Freddy and Susan McNeal, and grandchildren Dusty and Deanna McNeal; daughter and son-in-law, Billie and Andy Cain, and grandchildren Neil and Jessie Cain and Lindsey and Alex Zegar; and son, Bob McNeal.    She is also survived by her sister, Nell Watson, and her children Steve, Pam, and Pattie.  Dot had five great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family burial at Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, November 1, officiated by Mike Mangum.
