Obituary Date: Monday, October 25, 2021

Irene Harben, 92, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 following a period of declining health.

Born May 13, 1929 to the late Alonzo and Nettie Burt, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  A homemaker at her death, she retired from Sweet-Orr following 31 years of service.  She enjoyed working with her flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren.  A member of Juno Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Havard Harben; son, Stevie Harben; sisters, Cleo Whelchel, Inez McGuire; brothers, Clyde Burt, Carl Burt, Ted Burt, Howard Burt, Dean Burt, and Winford “Biscuit” Burt.

Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Vickie and W. C. Quarles, Dawsonville; daughter in law, Linda S. Harben, Dawsonville; grandson and granddaughter in law, Shannon and Angela Harben, Dawsonville; great grandchildren, Olivia and Ember Harben; step-granddaughter, Katrina and her husband Danny Pitre, Woodstock; 6 step-great grandchildren; 3 step-great great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Brody Hughes, Rev. Dennis Bottoms, and Rev. Ronnie Sosebee will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Juno Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
