Michael Walcott, age 66 of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021.
He served six years in the United States Navy as a supply officer and then as a systems analyst in Houston, Texas. He realized his passion for teaching as a professor at Truett-McConnell college where he established the cross country program. He then taught economics at White County High School, where he is remembered for being a gifted teacher and for his legendary ‘stache.
Michael was an avid trail runner and cyclist, completing a total of 103 races of marathon length or longer - including twelve 100-mile races. He had clocked over 6,000 miles so far this year on his bike.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Pam; two daughters, Becka and Sara (Josh); his grandson Caleb; siblings Mark (Kally) of St. George, UT, Paul (Jan) of Jenison, MI, and Phil (Ellen) of Loveland, CO; and his mother, Jean Walcott of Hudsonville, MI.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 24 from 5-7pm at the Mossy Creek UMC Fellowship Hall.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 25 at 3pm at Mossy Creek UMC.
