Don Barrett

Mr. Don Barrett age 78, of Cleveland passed away Wednesday October 20, 2021.

Mr. Barrett was born on June 6, 1943, in Cleveland, Georgia, to the late Claud and Louise Shewbert Barrett.  He was a retired chemist and plant manager for Guilford Mills.  In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Chuck Barrett.

Don was an accomplished high school athlete.  He was an avid golfer and officiated high school football for over 40 years.  Don was a father to some, a friend to many, but a Pampaw to most.  He was known for his infectious smile, warm heart, and hearty laugh.  A true southern gentleman, he had the gift of gab and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna Barrett-Williams (Shannon); daughter, Tammy Barrett; daughter-in-law, Paula Barrett; grandchildren, Cole Barrett-Williams, Chloe Barrett, and Charlie Barrett; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Eilene Barrett and Bill and Paulette Barrett; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.  The Rev. Fred Whitley will officiate.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. & 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
